Growing up, Mikey Winslow studied piano, saxophone, voice, percussion, and guitar. This musical foundation shaped his approach to dance, where musicality remains central to both his performance and choreography. He honed his ability to tell stories through movement during his teen years with a ballet company and later at Western Michigan University. After graduating with a BFA in Musical Theatre, Winslow pursued a career on Broadway, achieving his dreams and performing in numerous Broadway shows, including West Side Story, American Idiot, and On the Town. After a total hip replacement in 2018, Winslow returned to the stage with Hamilton. When the pandemic paused live theatre, he moved back home to Michigan, earned a master’s degree, and shifted his focus to teaching and creating. Today, Winslow works as a local teaching artist and director/choreographer. His classes blend kindness with radical accountability, fostering an environment for growth, play, and deeper connection. He is passionate about helping dancers of all levels tap into their stories and embrace their humanity.
