Former West Michigan resident, Mikey Winslow, takes a break from Broadway and returns to Grand Rapids to teach at CARE Camp 2010.
Mikey Winslow, a CARE Alumnus, is currently playing the role of Big Deal in the Broadway revival of West Side Story in New York City. On Monday, August 16, he will return to Grand Rapids to spend the day sharing his experiences and teaching at CARE Camp 2010, hosted by the CARE Conservatory of Ballet. CARE Camp is a week-long day camp for dancers 5 years and older. Camp consists of classes & workshops in Ballet, Pointe, Pilates, Conditioning, Partnering, Jazz, Musical Theatre, Hip Hop, Leaps & Turns, Self-Defense, Aerobics, Make-up, Stage Combat, Yoga, Zumba and Stretching. The classes are taught by current CCB staff members, CARE Alumni, and Guest Instructors.
Mikey began dancing when he was 10 years old and first performed with CARE at age 12. Since then he has performed with CARE, EGR High School, Grand Rapids Civic Theatre, Circle Theatre, Western Michigan University, Pittsburgh Civic Light Opera and North Carolina Theatre among others. He graduated from East Grand Rapids High School in 2004 and from WMU with a degree in Musical Theatre Performance in 2009. Currently he is playing the role of Big Deal in the production of West Side Story on Broadway. |
